You might be surprised to learn that when Ms. Mason-Milks read Pride and Prejudice for the first time in the eighth grade, she was not impressed! This all changed in 1995 when the now famous BBC version of the story was shown on television in the US. After watching the film too many times to count and reading all of Austen’s novels, she was in love. Pride and Prejudice is definitely her favorite Austen novel with Persuasion coming in a close second.
She says, “Writing stories inspired by Austen’s books offers a way to spend more time with characters I’ve grown to love. Just because the book ends, it doesn’t have to be the end of the story.”
She shares authorship of The Darcy Brothers with four other authors – Abigail Reynolds, Maria Grace, Monica Fairview and Cassandra Grafton.
She currently lives in Bend, Oregon with her husband and Lucy, the Tibetan Terrier AKA Tibetan Terror.
