Working “Remotely”

As I’ve been finishing my book, I’ve had some – I should say a lot – of help from my brother, Will. He’s worked on the desktop publishing, set up the ebook and helped me with my web sites. All-in-all I couldn’t have done it without him.

The most interesting part of all this is that I live in Seattle and he lives in Melbourne, Australia! We’ve done all our work together on this project over Skype. Hours and hours of skype! There’s a feature called “screen sharing” that we frequently use so that I can watch what he’s doing on his computer or he can watch what I’m doing on mine. It’s made it possible for us to work almost as if we’re in the same room! The toughest part has been the time difference. When it’s Tuesday at 8am in Seattle (when I do my best work), it’s Wednesday 1am Wednesday in Melbourne. As a result, I’ve been up late so that we’re talking in the middle of the day for him.

    Hey Sis-
It’s been lots of fun for me, too, to work on the book with you. I can’t wait for the next one.

Sounds like a great brother. My husband has been going through my book (and today he found a mistake no one else had!). But he’s not across the world. He’s sitting right here with me! 🙂
